Quarterback Joe Germinerio, who suited up for Ithaca this season, and Delaware Valley defensive end Michael Nobile lead the D3football.com 2019 All-East Region team. Germinerio was named East Region Offensive Player of the Year for the third consecutive season, while Nobile was named the East Region Defensive Player of the Year.
Middlebury coach Bob Ritter, who led the Panthers to an undefeated season at 9-0, is the East Region Coach of the Year. It’s his first selection as a D3football.com regional Coach of the Year, and the second for the NESCAC, which does not compete in the NCAA playoffs.
Germinerio, from Wynantskill, New York, threw for 3,338 yards in 11 games for Brockport, completing 69.7 percent of his passes and throwing 33 touchdowns, with 10 interceptions. He also ran for 424 yards and a team-high seven touchdowns. His previous two East Region Offensive Player of the Year awards came as a quarterback for Brockport.
Nobile, a sophomore from Brick, New Jersey, recorded 31 tackles for loss, including 12 sacks, from his defensive end spot for the Aggie. He recorded 75 tackles, 41 of them solo, adding eight hurries and two forced fumbles.
The teams, selected in balloting by East Region sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 331 nominations by full Division III member schools. A total of 78 players were chosen. Players nominated for All-Region are eligible to be considered for D3football.com All-America honors, which will be announced the evening of Dec. 20, in D3football.com’s pregame coverage for Stagg Bowl XLVII.
