2024 D3football.com All-Region 3 Team

Berry athletics; Hardin-Simmons athletics

Berry running back Brandon Cade and Hardin-Simmons linebacker Charlie Patterson lead the D3football.com 2024 All-Region 3 team. Cade was named Region 3 Offensive Player of the Year, while Patterson was named the Region 3 Defensive Player of the Year.

Maryville coach Ben Fox, who coached his Scots to a 9-2 overall record, including a playoff win and a trip to the second round of the NCAA playoffs, is the Region 3 Coach of the Year. It is his fifth season as head coach.

NCAA Division III realigned Division III football into six regions in 2021. Region 3 includes the American Southwest Conference, the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, the Southern Athletic Association, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and the USA South Athletic Conference.

Cade, a senior from Duluth, Georgia, ran for 1,081 yards and 17 touchdowns on 203 carries over 10 games for the Vikings this season. He also caught two touchdown passes.

A senior from Auburn, Illinois, Patterson finished with 80 tackles, 43 of them solo, across 11 games for Hardin-Simmons. He recorded 14 tackles for loss and eight sacks while also forcing a fumble. Last season, Patterson, as a player for Illinois College, was a Region 5 All-Region selection.

The teams, selected in balloting by Region 3 sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 195 nominations by full Division III member schools. A total of 78 players were chosen. Players nominated for All-Region are eligible to be considered for D3football.com All-America honors, which will be announced Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025.
