North Central defensive tackle John Sullivan and his teammate, quarterback Garret Wilson, lead the D3football.com 2025 All-Region 5 team. Sullivan was named Region 5 Defensive Player of the Year for the second year in a row, while Wilson was named the Region 5 Offensive Player of the Year.

Wheaton coach Jesse Scott, who has led the Thunder to an 11-2 record and a trip to the Division III national quarterfinals, is the Region 5 Coach of the Year. It’s his first selection as a D3football.com regional Coach of the Year.

NCAA Division III realigned Division III football into six regions in 2021. Region 5 includes the American Rivers Conference, the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, the Midwest Conference and the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.

Wilson, a sophomore from Edmond, Oklahoma, has completed 165 of 233 passes for 2,479 yards and 39 touchdowns against four interceptions. He has also run for 325 yards and three touchdowns on 56 carries. North Central, the defending national champion, is 12-0 and plays in the national quarterfinals on Saturday.

Sullivan, a senior from Lake Villa, Illinois, is an All-Region selection for the second time. He has recorded 19½ tackles for loss, 13 quarterback hurries and 6½ sacks for the Cardinals so far this season. He has 61 total tackles, 33 of them solo, as well as six pass breakups.

The teams, selected in balloting by Region 5 sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 141 nominations by full Division III member schools. A total of 78 players were chosen. Players nominated for All-Region are eligible to be considered for D3football.com All-America honors, which will be announced Monday, Dec. 22, 2025.
