Brad Grinnen, an all-conference defensive lineman for Waynesburg, was found unresponsive on Sunday morning in his dorm room and was pronounced dead.

According to local police, the death was not considered suspicious or a threat to the Waynesburg campus.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with this student’s family and friends,” the university said in a statement released to media. “On behalf of Waynesburg University, we would like to express our deepest sympathies. We are cooperating fully with the authorities who are investigating the situation. We have been assured that it is not a suspicious death, and there is no perceived threat to the public.”

Grinnen, 21, led the Yellow Jackets with eight sacks and three forced fumbles this past season.
