ANNVILLE, Pa. – Senior linebacker Cory Pietrzyk of the Stevenson University football team was named the Middle Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Sunday.
Pietrzyk totaled 13 tackles (eight solo), including three tackles for a loss, as Stevenson fell to Widener 20-14. Pietrzyk also had an interception and a 21-yard return after he picked a ball out of the air originally tipped by teammate DJ Broxton. His 13 tackles were a season high and matched a career high, while his three tackles for a loss matched a season best. The interception was the fifth of Pietrzyk's career.
On the season, Pietrzyk has a team-high 65 tackles for the Mustangs and also leads Stevenson with 12.5 tackles for a loss. He ranks fourth in the MAC in tackles for a loss and seventh in total tackles.
Stevenson returns to action Saturday when it travels to Wilkes for a noon contest.
